Leonz Eder honoured with the Lifetime Award

Leonz Eder, Eliane Deininger and Nicola Müler, both ski orienteering athletes, received awards in Lucerne.

The Swiss University Sports Federation held its annual awards ceremony evening in Lucerne on 25 October. FISU President’s outstanding services to university sport were celebrated.

 

The annual Swiss Students Sports Award from Swiss University Sports took place at the Lucerne Exhibition Center. An event full of music, honours and inspiring speeches. Numerous guests, including prominent figures from sport and education, gathered to honour outstanding achievements in university and elite sport.


The emotional highlight of the event was the presentation of the Lifetime Award to the President of the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire, FISU, Leonz Eder, for his services to university sport, both nationally and internationally.

The event was professionally and empathetically hosted by St.Gallen TV presenter Beat Antenen. The show act included the top sports dance duo Maja Kucharcyk and Davide Corrody – both students at the University of St.Gallen.

Double interview with Lorenz Ursprung and Matthias Remund.


A particular highlight was the double interview with Lorenz Ursprung, Co-President of Swiss University Sports, and Matthias Remund, Head of FOSPO (Swiss Federal Office for Sport) and Future FISU Secretary General from 1 December 2024. They provided exciting insights into the future direction of Swiss University Sports and the importance of international university sports.

In the first part of the event, FISU Education Committee member and Co-President of Swiss University Sports, Daniel Studer, honoured Managing Director Simone Righenzi on the occasion of his retirement and welcomed the new Managing Director Raeto Raffainer.

The Swiss Students Sports Awards 2024 in the “women” category was won by Eliane Deininger from Eastern Switzerland, while the men’s award went to Nicola Müller from Bern – both ski orienteering athletes.
