From 22-24 November, the last FISU event of the year promises three action packed days in China as the best 3×3 basketball university teams fight for the last places on a podium in 2024.
A little bit of history to set the scene… The predecessor of the FISU University World Cup 3×3 basketball is the 3×3 FISU World University League, which was launched by the International University Sports Federation back in 2015. The first event took place FISU and FIBA (the International Basketball Federation) directly inviting major basketball teams (both men and women) from universities across five continents to compete for the league championship and this already too place in Xiamen, Fujian.
Starting from 2016, the tournament developed a league system, establishing five major competition zones worldwide. Only the winning teams in each region can qualify to participate in the league finals.
In 2019, the 3×3 FISU World University League was officially renamed as the FISU University World Cup 3×3 basketball. Huaqiao University hosted the event 5 times from 2015 to 2019.
And now, the Xiamen 2024 FISU University World Cup 3×3 basketball is about to start, once more hosted by Huaqiao University on its Xiamen campus.
