Over 2000 student-athletes from 57 countries will compete in 11 sports for 90 medal events between the 13-23 January 2025 at the .

With only a few days to go until the Opening Ceremony on 13 January, FISU’s Secretary General and CEO Matthias Remund spent a day with Eurosport on the Swiss Snow, remembering the joy of his four participations to FISU World University Games (formerly known as Universiade) and also sharing his excitement before experiencing the event again so many years later.

Remund insists on the importance of inclusion, as para-student-athletes will participate in the same Alpine Skiing and Cross-Country Skiing competitions as their teammates and this for the very first time.

He looks forward to the competitions, but also to everything else that makes the FISU World University Games so special, where student-athletes often make friends for life. “I believe this event will bring the university sports world closer together”.
