Round-Up Ice Hockey – Day 8

Women
As the women completed their preliminary round yesterday, they had the day off today. Four men’s team had to play another game to end their preliminary round.

Men

USA – JPN 3-6 (2-1, 0-2, 1-3)
Although Team USA was on a 2-1 lead in the first period it could not bring the game to a good end. Along the way, Team Nippon took over scoring five more goals. The Americans could only retaliate once in those two periods.

RUS – SVK 9-3 (1-0, 2-2, 6-1)
On the road to gold the Russians made another victim. After trailing only one point after the first period the Slovaks were getting close in turning the game around ending the second with an equalizing 2-2. However, in the third period, the Russians went full throttle and drilled six more pucks beyond Slovak Goalie Martin Surek.
