Women’s Slalom in Yabuli

26 February 2009

Katarzina Karasinska from Poland, during the first run

Women’s alpine skiing competition ended today with the women’s slalom. We had again shinny but windy conditions on the Daguokui slope of Yabuli. Polish team signed a superb double thanks to Katarzyna Karasinska and Aleksandra Klus. Katarzyna, this fantastic skier was the favourite. She won both runs to celebrate her participation to her third and last Universiade. Eliane Volken, from Switzerland took the silver medal. Bad luck for the French team who miss all their medal chances as all their skiers went out of the track during the second run.
Bad luck also for Tamara Wolf (SUI), double gold in Alpine. She felt during the first run and did not get one medal in the combined ranking.
Indeed, the Gold medal of the Alpine Combined ranking went to Chika Kato from Japan, always well placed in all the events, Chika gained 416 points. Next is Lucie Hrstkova from the Czech Republic with 407 points and third, Pauline Socquet from France with 403 points.
