Brazil won the first Pan-American University Futsal Championship last Sunday, November 8th in Assunción, Paraguay.
The Brazilian team, represented by Unip (SP) players, beat Costa Rica in the finals 5:2. Uruguay and Paraguay played for third place where Uruguay was victorious.
Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Costa Rica and Uruguay played for the medals at the tournament. Being the favorite, the Brazilians won the event without losing a match. In the classification round, Brazil made 5:1 against Paraguay; 13:1 against Chile; 12:0 against Costa Rica and 4:0 against Paraguay.
The first Pan-American University Futsal Championship was organized by ODUPA, the Pan-American University Sports Organization – FISU’s Associate Member of the Americas – in Assunción, from November 3th to 8th, 2009.
