FISU Delegates at Peace & Sport International Forum

On November 25th, started the third edition of the Peace and Sport International Forum which is hosted in Monaco. This organization was founded by its current President, Joël Bouzou who is a former pentathlon athlete from France.

The pick of the opening ceremony attended by HSH Albert of Monaco, the President of the Republic of Slovenia Danilo Turk, the French Secretary for Sport Mrs. Rama Yade, was the creation of the initiative of the “Champions for Peace”. This initiative is bringing together Olympic, World and Continental Champions to promote through their projects the values of “Peace and Sport”.

This Forum is gathering all actors of the worldwide sport scene. Representatives of governments, United Nations agencies, Olympic committees, International sport organizations, universities, NGO’s, media and last but not least, the Athletes are sharing their points of view.

On the 26th , the work started with plenary sessions on “Peace, Sport and International Relations in 2009”, “Sport for Sustainable Peace: from Theory to Practice” while the workshops are focusing on “Integrating the Practice of Sport into Sustainable Peace Processes”, “After a sports program, what social integration is there for young people” and “Ensuring the Economic Sustainability of Programs”.

For its second participation FISU, which is a partner of Peace and Sport, was represented by Kolë Gjeloshaj, Director of Educational and Development Services – Chief of Staff to the President and by Marc Vandenplas, Director Summer Universiade.
