Last Saturday, at the International Tourism Trade Fair of Madrid, Fitur 2010, Vigo presented its tourist proposal for this year “aiming to place our city as an unmissable destination any time of the year”, according to the Vigo Deputy Mayor and City Councilor for Tourism, Santiago Domínguez.
The offer also included two FISU events organized by the Fundación Vigo en Deporte: the 10th FISU Forum (June 21st – 26th) and the 11th World University Taekwondo Championship (June 29th – July 4th).
The importance of both sports appointments was proven by the fact that the Deputy Mayor included them in the group of relevant events in Vigo during 2010, together with the Fiesta de la Reconquista (Reconquest Celebration), the Fiesta del Marisco (Seafood Festival), the Fiestas de Vigo (Vigo Summer Festivities), the Copa del Mundo de Saltos (Show Jumping World Championship) or the Semana Náutica del Atlántico (Atlantic Nautical Week).
Sixty national university sports federations, including the host country Spain, are currently registered for the Forum. No less than 400 people from all five continents will attend the discussion forum about the situation of world university sports, which will be held at the Caixanova Social Center, the Caixanova Cultural Center and the University Campus As Lagoas-Marcosende.
