Two German athletes and former Universiade participants won a medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in vancouver, Canada.
Michael Neumayer reached the 4th place in ski-jumping (large hill) competition at the 2005 Winter Universiade in Innsbruck. In Vancouver he won the silver medal with the ski-jumping team.
Kerstin Szymkowiak (maiden name Jürgens) took part in the Skeleton-Competition at the 2005 Winter Universiade in Innsbruck and won the bronze medal. In Vancouver she won the silver medal in the Olympic Skeleton Ladies Single Competition.
