OC 2010 Forum incorporates Experts from Portuguese Universities

5 March 2010

The Council of Vigo, the Vigo Sports Foundation, the National Sports Council of Spain and the University of Vigo continue to make strides in organizing the FISU Forum, the tenth edition being hosted in the Spanish city from June 21st and 26th. At a meeting on campus, the Executive Committee decided to involve two Portuguese universities, the University of Lisbon and the University of Minho, whose experts in sport, Duarte Lopes and Pedro Dias, respectively, have extensive backgrounds in international events, including the Lisbon FISU Forum 2004.

Pedro Dias, deputy director of the department of Sports and Culture, University of Minho, and member of the FISU Executive Committee, and Duarte Lopes, coordinator of sports services of the University of Lisbon, have accepted the invitation based on the outstanding relationships they have with the University of Vigo. The Forum Executive Committee welcomes this, which reinforces the interest in organizing the best possible FISU Forum. It happens that Duarte Lopes is since last November ENAS Vice-President, European Network of College Sports Services, so that the Forum will also be promoted through this network of 78 universities from nineteen countries.

In addition the Executive Committee held a videoconference with the president of the Spanish Confederation of Deans of Faculties of Sports Science, Rafael Martin Steel, who also will be a member of the Scientific Committee and who promised to extend all cooperation with seeking advice and keynote speakers for the FISU Forum.

Moreover, the organization wants to promote the participation of the sports services of all Spanish universities, considering that this is a unique opportunity.
