The latest general entry, from top hockey nation the Netherlands, brings the totals up to eleven in the men’s and eight in the women’s for the World University Hockey Championships, Edinburgh 2010.
“It’s a great position to be in with 5 days still available for nations to get their general entry form back to the local organising committee” said FISU Hockey Chair Niall Sturrock.
With entries open for another week, and several nations noting interest, the Local Organising Committee and FISU could face a tough decision making process, with both tournaments limited to a maximum of eight teams.
“This latest entry from the Netherlands adds to quality entries we’ve received already from across the world”, added Sturrock. “We’re still keen to welcome entries from other interested nations, in order that they do not miss this opportunity to be crowned Champions of the first ever World University Hockey Championships.”
Several other nations have expressed interest in entering, and should contact the organising committee as soon as possible to ensure all final queries are answered to enable registration by the closing date of 12th March.”
Nations are reminded that while general entries close on 12th March 2010, all countries must have paid their deposit of 2,000 EUROs by 28th March 2010 to ensure consideration in the short-listing process.
