Today, April 8th, a number of working sessions took place at the FISU Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The WUC Committee, the Development Committee and the History Committee started their two-day meetings with the designated FISU Staff members.
The working session for the World University Championships was attended by Sinisa JASNIC, Chair CTI World University Championships; Matjaz PECOVNIK, Vice-Chair CTI World University Championships; Laurent BRIEL, Director World University Championships and Nicole MANGELSCHOTS, Assistant World University Championships.
The agenda of the meeting was presented and approved. A summary of the administrative tasks were presented: accreditation system, contracts follow-up, nomination of the ISF delegates, CISCA tasks and guidelines.
Regarding the relations with the ISF, special attention was brought to the FISA meeting in Lausanne and also to the following International Sports Federations: Badminton, Canoe and Baseball.
Some recommendations were made, such as enabling disabled participants to attend the WUC’s, the proposal about the draw for the selection of the teams, the future of Field Hockey, the FISU WUC Karate recognition, the creation of a disciplinary committee in case of incidents. The WUC Committee will make those proposals to the EC.
The dossiers of candidatures for the 2012 WUC have been studied and only the complete dossiers – deadline fixed on April 5th – will be taken into consideration for submission to the next EC meeting in Shenzhen this May. The candidatures for Match Racing, Bridge and Karate will be presented.
The calendar for the WUC was also presented. The working session ended by the report of the different inspection visits made and the progress reports received.
