Porto – From May 4th to 6th FISU Technical Chair for Rugby, Alberto Gualtieri, was in Porto for an inspection visit.
The delegation of the WUC Rugby Sevens 2010 met Tuesday, May 4th, to present the city of Porto to the Chair and especially prepare the draw for the championship.
Bruno Almeida and Nuno Vieira, members of the OC, Miguel Vareta, Vice-President of the Portuguese Rugby Federation, André Couto and Estevão Cordovil, President and Vice-President of FADU, Rui Gonçalo, Vice-President of Boavista Futebol Clube and Alberto Gualtieri visited all the venues of the WUC.
The visit started in Hotel Melia Gaia Porto, the accommodation for the 600 rugby players who will travel to Porto in July. The delegation also visited several city landmarks like City Hall and the internationally known wine cellars of Porto Taylor.
The next day the attention of the entourage was centered at the competition venue, the Bessa Stadium. After the presentation of all stages of the 2010 WUC Rugby 7s, Mr. Gualtieri expressed confidence about the organization of the event: ‘The University of Porto has done a very good job and raised the organization level of this WUC, which pleases me very much.’
