2010 WUC Rugby 7 Update: Venue Gets New Turf

7 June 2010

PORTO – The synthetic turf field of Bessa XXI Stadium was approved by the International Rugby Board.

The natural turf of the venue of the 4th World University Championship Rugby Sevens was replaced by a newer generation of synthetic grass. The company Global Stadium was responsible for the new turf of Bessa Stadium, which passed with distinction in all parameters of the difficult IRB certification, being able to practice rugby.

This is the first synthetic turf certified by the IRB in Portugal in a venue with the size of the Bessa Stadium, which bears witness the quality and the excellent conditions that will be available for the 2010 WUC Rugby.

The rugby players, despite being more accustomed to natural lawns, this time will be able to enjoy the beautiful synthetic turf of Bessa Stadium which has all the necessary conditions for the practice of this sport at the highest level.
