Fernando Parente (CIC)VIGO – Coming off a very successful FISU Forum, people in Vigo have not rested in their laurels but rather rolled up their sleeves and dug in again for the upcoming World University Taekwondo Championship.
With two days to go to the Opening Ceremony, the Local Organising Committee has been busy preparing the venue to receive the best university taekwondo athletes in the world. Over 400 entries are expected from close to 50 countries, setting the stage for yet another great university sport event in Vigo.
A hot day was defiantly more inviting to go for a stroll down to the beach but the organising committee showed honest devotion in receiving the many delegations that have already arrived for the event –approximately 200 participants from 11 countries have been given the green light for participation.
Accreditation AreaSince early morning the team have been practising hard in the training venue and the afternoon saw the general rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony that will involve local schools and taekwondo clubs in an interesting display.
Closing the day’s work, FISU EC member Kemal Tamer led the CISCA meeting that brought together all FISU representatives and the LOC to review key issues and align strategies to best assure the preparation of the event. FISU CMI member Dr. Roland Questel, CT Taekwondo Chair Ken Min and CIC member Fernando Parente all worked closely with LOC members in their specific fields.
