PORTO – After some changes in the number of delegations present in Porto, the Organising Committee, in accordance with the CTI Chair Mr. Alberto Gualtieri, proceeded to do a new draw for the male and female competitions.
The new groups are as follows:
FEMALE
Group A: POR, ITA, CAN, GUM and UKR.
Group B: ESP, GBR, RUS, BRA and NOR.
MALE
Group C: POR, RUS, ITA, TPE, LIB, BEL and POL.
Group D: ESP, GBR, CAN, JPN, MAR, NOR and HUN.
The CISCA Chair Luciano Cabral, FISU Vice-President is happy to confirm that the number of teams present at the 4th World University Rugby Sevens Championship is a new participation record for men’s and woman’s teams. Additionally, it will count with teams from all 5 FISU continental associate members.
The OC is still working hard preparing everything for the kick-off. Yesterday the OC Vice president, Bruno Almeida led a meeting with the volunteers explaining some areas like local logistics, team attachés, secretariat and many other areas that will count with this invaluable assistance from approximately 120 local students.
The event will have full live coverage through online streaming on and will also have live matches on national TV during the last day. A 5h program will also be transmitted live from the Bessa Stadium, with game highlights, interviews and coverage of the competition finals and medal awarding ceremonies.
