CISCA delegates with the Mayor of Szeged
SZEGED – Today, August 12th, the day in the “city of sunshine” started with the CISCA meeting, where Verena Burk welcomed the Organising Committee, mentioning that we are conscious that the Organising Committee of Szeged, the HUSF and the Hungarian Rowing Association do all their best to organise this Championship in excellent conditions. Everything was prepared for the Technical Meeting this afternoon.
In 2008 at the 10th edition in Belgrade, Serbia, 27 countries were participating. This time, even if accreditation started this morning only, we were expecting 29 countries but unfortunately, due to the problem of visa delay Sri Lanka will not be able to attend. On the other hand, it is the first time for South Africa to participate at a FISU World University Rowing Championship.
We can therefore confirm that we will have the participation of the 5 continents, with the following 28 countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Rep., Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Serbia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Chinese Taipei and USA.
During the time that the athletes could practise starts from 10:30am in order to get familiar to the technical aspects of this competition in agreement with FISA rules, all CISCA members were invited by the Mayor of Szeged, Laszlo Botka, at the City Hall of the Municipality.
In the afternoon, at 13pm, the Jury meeting and inspection course was made. At 15pm, the Technical meeting was attended by the countries that already arrived. All heads of delegations received the team manager manual, gathering all necessary information concerning transportation, food services, opening ceremony and all technical aspects related to the competition. The draw was made for the 13 competitions.
At 17pm, a meeting was held regarding the protocol for the Opening Ceremony and at 19pm, at the venue of the Hungaricum Festival, Széchenyi tèr, the LOC and the Hungarian Rowing Association invited the CISCA for the evening.
