2010 WUC Futsal Update: Novi Sad ready to Host

NOVI SAD – The delegations of POR, FRA, BRA, CHN, KAZ, RUS, POL, GBR, ARG, URG as well as SRB arrived in Novi Sad to attend the 12^th World University Futsal Championship, organised by the University Sports Federation of Novi Sad under the patronage of the University Sports Federation of Serbia. One year after the Summer Universiade volleyball preliminary games, Sports Hall “SPENS” will host another FISU event. At this edition of the World University Futsal Championship it’s the first time in the FISU history of the tournament that the women’s and men’s events will be played simultaneously. The Organizing Committee expects to host about 370 participants from more then 16 countries.   

Accommodation

The organizers prepared for the participating countries very good accommodation in two different places of dormitories. The FISU Family is accommodated in the Arta Hotel, and the referees are accommodated separately just two minutes walking distance from the Sports Hall SPENS.  

 Accreditation

The Accreditation centre is situated in the new university campus and member of the CIC Committee Fernand Bothelbergs will be checking all these individual entry forms. The accreditation centre is well organized everyone knows their work there.

 CT Chair Inspection

Before the start of the competition FISU Technical Chair for Futsal John Warnock (GBR) accompanied by Michal Buchel, FISU Sports Manager controlled and checked all the functional areas (Competition and Training venues, accommodations and dinning hall) and they are satisfied with the situation. The Gerflor Company, the official supplier of the FISU Futsal Championship laid down the floor in both competition halls and with some minor preparations left, the championship can be officially opened tomorrow.
