2011 WU Update: Medal and Torch Design

ERZURUM – The ‘Friendship’  design theme for the medal and the torch that will be used during the Erzurum WU has been approved by FISU. The 25th Winter Universiade which will be held between January 27-February 6. The design refers to the city’s most important landmark, the Double Minaret Madrasah ‘hook motif’ .  ARKES, which is one of the cities local firms, have used the ‘hook motif’ for the medal and tourch designes to represent friendship and brotherhood. Motif also emphasis unity, friendship and peace.

522 Medals Will Be Awarded  During The Games

Three thousand athletes and officials from 52 countries will participate in the  2011 Erzurum WU. Sport competitions  will be held in 11 disciplines with 66 medal ceremonies where  a total of 522 medals will be distributed in 174 sets.
