2010 WUC Futsal Update: Finals & Closing Ceremony

Brazilian Golden BoysGold Medal Game – RUS – BRA: 2-3

The men’s team of Brazil won the title of the World University Futsal Championship 2010 on Sunday (29/08), Novi Sad, Serbia, defeating Russia 3-2. With the victory, Brazil lifts the trophy as champion of the 2010 World Cup in for both men’s and women’s teams. The fourth championship title of the men’s team came after a fierce game against Russia and set only in the final minutes of the match. Team Brazil went ahead in deciding the 2010 WUC Fustal. Gabriel D’Angelo, the number 10 could space the middle of the Russian defence and hit the goal past Sergey Loginov. The game remained open and with strong intensity between the two teams. After fine saves from goalkeeper Tarcisio, Russia managed to reach the target green-yellow and tie the game. A good action by Gabriel on the left, Geverson Freitas took the cross and put Brazil back in front. But besides a wrong ball, the Russians managed to balance the Brazilian network and equalised the first half at 2-2. Early in the second half, Brazil mounted the pressure and in the counterattack, Felipe Cascalles pedalled and kicked the ball in the right corner to score 3-2. Russia had a player sent off and Brazil went on to have more ball possession. Behind on the scoreboard, the Russians launched to the attack and missed a penalty kick. Tarcisio closed the corner and the opposing player hit the crossbar. But the goalie and the defence of Brazil has worked hard to prevent Russia’s attempts to tie the game. Time went by and Brazil managed to keep the advantage on the scoreboard and celebrated its fourth title of the World University Futsal Championship.  

Bronze Medal Game – SRB – UKR: 2-2 / after penalty kicks 4-2

The first half of the bronze medal game of the 12th World University Futsal Championship the fans saw some very paced futsal. The teams moved up and down with many chances to score a goal but only one shot found its way to the net. It was Sorokin (UKR) who scored the first goal of the game after twelve minutes. Serbia started very well in the second half and Prsic scored from the first chance for the team. Both teams were motivated to turn the victory on its side and the fire was in front of the both goals but Lytvynenko (UKR) and Aksentijevic (SRB) stopped all the shots. Until the thirteen minute of the second half when captain of the Serbian team Rajcevic scored by the terrific shot – 2:1.  Then Ukraine scored again and the game was decided with penalty shots in favour of the Serbs.

Game for 5th Place – KAZ – POL: 2-2 / after penalty kicks 2-3

Poland led after the seventh minute after the goal of Marciniak. The same player scored also the second goal but Kazakhstan was able to answer before the team went to the changing room by Dovgan – 2:1. When Yessenamanov scored a goal three minutes before the end of the regular time the game was decided with penalties.

Game for 7th Place – POR – ISR: 2-1

After the difficult game, former champion Portugal finished 7th at the 12th World University Futsal Championship. Portugal opened the score after four minutes by Ramos. Israel played well and draws the game in the fifteenth minute by Goldehberg – 1:1. Team Portugal dominated during the second half and that was also the reason why the score was changed one more time. Ramos scored his second goal of the game and established the final score for Portugal to 2:1.

 

Team FranceGame for 9th Place  – FRA – SVK: 4-5 

The game for the 9th place of the tournament between France and Slovakia had also a very balanced running. France won the first half 3:1 after the goals of Naouar, Ainon and Sakrani. The second half, the  French team would keep the Slovaks at a distance by a precise defense. That was effective until the 8th minute of the second half when they did not resists the pressure and received an unlucky own goal. Four minutes later the Slovak team equalized the score by Serbin 3-3. The Slovak players of coach Berky sensed a chance to turn luck their side and more offensive play resulted in another own goal by a French player – 3-4. The French equalized the score after playing the power play by Naouar. But forty seconds before the end Slovak player Gabas definitely placed his team on the 9th place.  

 

Game for 11th Place – MNE – GBR: 2-5

GBR started the game better and went ahead by two goals scored during the fifth minute by Obasi Onua and Roberts. Betson scored a third goal for GBR during the first half. The second half the British team controlled the situation and adjusted the score two more times by Obasi Onua and Morgan. Two goals of MNE were scored during the second half by Rodojicic and Kovac.

 

Game for 13th PlaceCHN – ARG: 2-1

Everybody knows that South-Americans teams are very strong in futsal. However, Argentina as well as Uruguay lost the standing positions at their games and disappointed at this WUC. China defeated Argentina in a very balanced game. Two goals for China were scored by Linag from two different situations. First during the first half by the rebound and the second goal was scored during the last minute of the second half from the point of ten meters as a free kick. Argentina’s sole goal was scored by Potente.

 

Game for the 15th Place – OMA – URU: 4-4 / after penalty kicks 4-3  

The team who almost beat Portugal in the pool stage finished last after the penalty kicks. Oman was ahead 4:0, however the regular time finished by a draw – 4:4. Uruguay scored all their goals within four minutes of the second half by De Leon Guillermo who scored twice, De Leon Ignacio and Poittevin. Goals for Oman: Jaboob 2, Al-Busaidi and Al-Bulushi and decisive penalty score Al-Hasani.

Closing Ceremony                                                   

After the awarding ceremonies the Closing Ceremony took place at the Sports Hall SPENS. The Ceremony started by the Serbian national anthem. After the anthem representative of the Organizing Committee Zoran Delic and representative of the FISU Executive Committee Pedro Dias addressed their closing speeches. Mr. Dias thanked all organizers for their effort within the organizations of the 12th World University Futsal Championship. This memorable moment was according the FISU protocol. The FISU anthem was played; flags went from the hand of the Organizing Committee to the FISU representative because the next organizer is not announced yet. During the Closing Ceremony Mr. Dias presented the OC President Mr. Delic and representative of the National University Sport Federation a FISU commemorative plaque.

 

After the official part the Organizing Committee invited the FISU and FIFA representatives for a farewell dinner.

Women’s Tournament                    

 

Brazilian Golden Girls

SRB – RUS: 0-15

The Russian women’s team, third team in the final ranking already before this game was played against host Serbia. The girls from Russia scored only eight goals in total up to now but during the first half they scored seven goals by Deripasko 3, Samorodova, Khakimova, Ivanitskaya and Mironova. During the second half the Russians continuously raised the score of the game by Khakimova 2, Kuznetsova, Ivanitskaya, Karaseva 2, Samorodova, Deripasko and closed the game by a 15:0- victory.

 

GBR – FRA: 3-7

The French women’s team finished its first participation by a victory against its rival GBR. The team composed from players of the big futsal brother scored a fast goal by Blanchard. The British players were able to cope with France only once when they equalized the score 1:1 by Edwards. The first half the French team scored twice via Robinne – 3:1. The second half the French ladies scored again first by Mula. A second goal from Team GBR was scored ten minutes in the second half, again by Edwards – 4:2. France reacted immediately by Desmartez – 5:2. The last five minutes of the game the Brits putted all effort to attack and played with a flying goalkeeper but France score its sixth goal. The 38 minute was still on the scoreboard when Jones brings the hope for GBR to 6:3. The last goal of the game was scored by Mula (FRA) and established the final score of the game – 7:3. 

 

POR – BRA: 1-9

The girls from Brazil are back-to-back champion beating Portugal 9-1 in the last round of the World University Futsal Championship 2010 in Novi Sad (Serbia). The green-yellow team came to the final game undefeated and as the title favourite. But the girls came into court concentrated and focused and pushed the Portuguese since the beginning of the game. Daniela Ribeiro opened the scoring for Brazil at 2min. Further, it was the turn of the WUC top scorer, Lucilia, bringing Brazil to a 2-0 lead. The third goal, an assist by Vanessa, who covered the opposing goalie and with a cross kick, Lucilia closed the scoring in the first half 4-0. Back after the break, the Brazilians continued to steal the ball from Team Portugal. Jessica Spinola, Greice, Lucilia Jessiquinha scored in the second half and closed the score at 9:1, ensuring the championship title.

 

Besides the trophy, Brazil still has the two top scorers of the 2010 WUC: Lucilia, with 16 goals, and Vanessa, with 13 goals.
