2010 WUC Equestrian Update: Final Results

2 November 2010

SANGJU – The final day of competitions has delivered some remarkable results at the 9th WUC Equestrian in Sangju, Korea. The Koreans have triumphed winning the gold in the team and individual jumping competition, beating the Japanese by a few seconds. The event is a great success for the organizers. This bodes good hope for the development of university equestrian sport in Korea. The Korean beat the Japanese in the final moments before the Swiss took the lead on the Belgians for the bronze medal.

By the end of the jumping competition, the final of the dressage took place where the Belgian rider lost the bronze medal to her opponent from the Netherlands. Here we must acknowledge the courage of the Belgian rider, who continued her round despite a crisis of severe asthma. For the dressage grand finale the competitor of Great Britain took the lead on the Irish. The Belgian rider was able to console herself by taking the title in combined individual but also the combined team and the silver medal in dressage.

After the finals the medals ceremonies were carried out which were followed by the Closing Ceremony.

At the Ceremony, CISCA Chair Mr Kenny Chow officially thanked the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Mayor of Sangju, Mr. Beck Sung-young by presenting him with the FISU souvenir trophy. Mr. Kenny Chow officially transmitted the FISU flag to the President of ADH Mr. Nico Sperle to be the organizer of the 10th edition of the World University Equestrian Championship which will take place in Aachen, Germany in 2012.
