2011 WU Update: Slovenians Test Ski-Jumping Towers

Turkish Telekom Ski Jumping Towers

 

ERZURUM – On January 9th, Slovenian athletes Rozle Zasar, Matevz Starovec, Jaka Rus and Zisa Mandl made their firts jumps from the new ski jumping towers. Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Fatih Çintimar stated that to test the towers (125 meters) the Slovenian team was appointed by FIS. The towers were approved by the athletes so it was approved by FIS as well. From now on the towers are ready for competition.

Naming Rights

Turkish Telekom, which is the WU main sponsor, signed an agreement until 2016 for the naming rights. The Turkish Telekom Ski-Jumping Towers are World-class facilities which have been constructed for the 25th WU. The venue is equipped with lodging capacity for 25 athletes, a restaurant at the top of the tower, a hotel, a gym, and a 8,000 m³ pond. TT CEO K. Gökhan Bozkurt stated that ‘with technology investments and exports we add value to our country. At this point we carry out a reformist aspect on behalf of Turkish Sports. As TT together with the Group of companies we provide significant support in several areas of sports. Apart from being the main sponsor, obtaining the naming rights for Turkey’s first ski jumping towers gives us the opportunity to show that TT is an innovative and dynamic company.’
