BRUSSELS – On July 28th, Roger Roth CTI Chair for the Winter Universiade, Milan Augustin, Director for the Winter Universiade, Laurent Briel, Director for the World University Championships and WUC Assistant Julien Buhajezuk met with Mrs. Sarah Lewis, International Ski Federation (FIS) Secretary General to discuss the position of Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping within theFISUsports program.
Indeed, since these two disciplines became optional sports of the WU program from 2015 onwards, they became at the same time possible disciplines for the World University Championships program starting from the year 2014. This working session helped theFISUWinter Universiade and World University Championships departments to improve not only the general but also the technical elements ofFISUregulations during the upcoming preparations for Winter Universiade and WUC. The agenda of the meeting highlighted the most important topics, which could contribute to the CTI ideas in comparison with overall FIS technical management of all skiing disciplines.
It was thus an opportunity for FIS and FISU to discuss and ensure the mutual cooperation for the events to come, especially theMaribor2013 WU and the possible 1st World University Championship in both disciplines. Several other issues such as the coming nominations of technical committee chairs as well as the evolution of the FIS sport disciplines during the Winter Universiade were discussed to conclude a fruitful meeting.
The discussion on technical aspects in details will be organized next upcoming months with Paul Ganzenhuber, FISU current CT Chair for SJ, Walter Hofer, Race Director of SJ and Ulrich Wehling, Race Director of NC.
