2011 SU Update: FISU Conference – Final Day

 Ms. Kangeun LEE from Korea and Mr.Makhosanedile Majeke from South Africa: “What students say to FISU”

 

The last day of 2011 FISU conference started with the 5 oral presentation sections which composed of 8 papers for each section. Participants gained a lot of diversity knowledge and had chance to know each other very well. In the afternoon, the 5 chairs from 5 oral presentation sections make the summary and then invited students: Mr.Makhosanedile Majeke from South Africa and Ms. Kangeun LEE from Korea to present their report on Forum Vigo 2010. The topic they presented was: “What students say to FISU” the presenters emphasized the importance of active participation of students. They suggested launching a ‘Student Research Programme’ and including students into the FISU structure by creating a student commission. Lastly, the students suggested to nominate student ambassadors who can contribute in spreading University Sport values and act for the development of FISU.

 Then, Professor TIAN Ye, Director General of China Institute of Sports Science presented “Physical Activity Participation in the Youth of China”. He gives an overview about the physical activity participation inChinaby conducting a survey of 91140 Chinese residents in 7 age groups: 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and over 70. The result indicated that in 2007, 340 million residents participated in physical activities (194 million are male, 146 million are female, 218 million are from urban resident while 122 million are from rural] Also, the presenter mentioned about the physical fitness status of Chinese youth in terms of nutritional status keeps improving while their growth indexes is rising. He also gives some suggestions for improving youth sports in China as follows : schools and society should pay more attention to youth sports ; youngster should get at least 1 hour of exercise each day : government should improve the construction of public sport facilities : enhance scientific guidance in youth sports.

 

The second speaker for this session belongs to Professor Oleg Matytsin, President of Russian Sport and Tourism University, President of Russian Student Sports Federation in the topic “The Modern Lines of Development of International Students’ Sports” The presenter stated about the modern lines of development of International Students’ Sport will compose of : the effective system of state regulation of sport development in educational institutions ; physical training and sports are integral part of a defining link of a national education system; the high social status have to be closed cooperation settled by the legislation with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sports as well as with the NOC and IF ; modern material sports should base on children and youth. He also mention that the Directions of FISU development should improvement the legal framework for all aspects of FISU; enhancement of cooperation between continental federation and providing the balance of FISU executive committee as well as FISU commission ; give the financial assistant to the continental federations for their implementation of development programs; establishment of cooperation conditions with the IOC and Continental Olympic Committee; perfection of FISU educational activities systems for the purposes of integration of sports’ education and culture on all continentals; providing all possible assistance in the process of women’s involvement in sports in all levels and in all functions; expanding the cooperation with the continental and regional association of University Rectors; establishing of modern marketing and management system in FISU.

For the closing ceremony, Professor Claude-Louis Gallien, as the FISU Vice President and CESU Chair, he made a Conclusion Remarks and presented souvenir plaque to Shenzhen University and after that the 2011 FISU Conference Organizing Committee organized the Farewell Banquet to all of the participants at Shenzhen Newplum Garden Seafood Restaurant.
