2012 WUC Update: The 12th World University Taekwondo Championship to take place on Taekwondo’s homeland

BRUSSELS From May 25th to 30th, 2012, the Korean city of Pocheon (KOR) will host the 12th World University Taekwondo Championship. Taekwondo being one of the most successful sports within the program of FISU has been organized since 1986 and was an optional sport at several Universiades.

 More than 300 participants are thus expected for that 12th edition to be held in the Republic of Korea, homeland of Taekwondo, were it is more than a sport, it is a way of life.

 As a University event, students from the Deaji University will be involved as volunteers, interpreters, and member of the organizing team.

Pocheon is also known as a sport city, and especially thanks to Mo Tae-Bum, winner of the 500m long track speed skating event at the 2010 Winter Olympics, and silver medallist in the 1,000m event.
