GWANGJU – GUOC appointed London 2012 Olympic rhythmic gymnast Yeon-jae Son as its newest ambassador to boost the 2015 Summer Universiade.

The announcement follows a successful year for the eighteen-year-old South Korean: she won bronze medals in the 2012 Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup Series and the Moscow Grand Prix, and went on to finish 5th in the individual all-around gymnastics at London 2012.

The appointment took place in the Gwangju City Hall, where Mayor Un-tae Kang, 2015 SU Secretary General Yoon-suk Kim and the Vice President of Gwangju Sports Council, Hong-sik Kim, were in attendance.

Son will participate in a variety of domestic and international events, including giving lectures, donating her talent and involving SNS promotion in order to boom up the 2015 SU.

She is the latest Olympian to be appointed as ambassador after London 2012 Olympic gold medallists Hak-seon Yang and Bo-bae Ki, as well as silver medallist Eun-sook Choi, were appointed as fellow ambassadors earlier this year.

GUOC is planning to appoint more star players and popular figures as ambassadors.
