JAMAICA – The 2013 Intercollegiate Rugby League Championship featured six institutions that competed for championships honours. The teams included one first time entrant Excelsior Community College, and five others. All teams played each other twice with the top four battling in two hard hitting semi-finals.
The Mico University prevailed in the Grand Finals 32-29 against G.C.Foster College of Physical Education and Sports. The pulsating encounter had hundreds of students in attendance and the teary eyes of the proud Fostodians contrasted with the leaping exultation of the Miconians.
Additionally G.C.Foster College of Physical Education and Sports successfully defended their 9-a-side Intercol Circuit Trophy last November.
Rugby League was introduced into the Intercollegiate Association competitions in 2010 and features several student-athletes who are member of Jamaica’s national rugby league team, the Reggae Warriors.
