JELENIA GORA – One year prior to the 5th edition of the World University Cycling Championship Nienke Vos, the FISU Technical Delegate for Cycling together with Julien Buhajezuk from the FISU staff inspected the facilities and competition venues for the event to be held in Jelenia Gora, in the region of Lower Silesia, Poland from June 3rd to 8th, 2014. In addition of the inspection of accommodation, sports venues but also the city itself, the FISU representatives had a chance to meet the local authorities and be informed of their total support.
Four races will be on the programme of the event, including mountain bike cross country and marathon as well as road race mass start and time trial. In the most mountainous region of Poland with its green and hilly landscape, the selective courses will offer a fantastic show for spectators and riders.
The ambassador of the city Maja Włoszczowsk, Olympic silver medallist in mountain bike in Beijing 2008 is a strong asset for the promotion of an event which used the national championships as a rehearsal.
The experienced organising committee supported by AZS, the Polish University Sports Federation, one of the most active FISU members, will organise the WUC Cycling for the first time in what appears to be the most selective course of the history of the event and one of the most spectacular ones too.
