ALMATY – On 29 January 2016, a year before the opening of the 28th Winter Universiade Almaty 2017, online-accreditation to participate in the event has been launched on the official website .
Representatives of National University Sports Federations willing to participate in the 2017 Winter Universiade must complete an application form in the “Accreditation” section.
Official invitations for participation in the Winter Universiade were sent to the 170 National University Sports Federations, all members of FISU.
The online accreditation will be available until 29 March 2016.
The Winter Universiade in Almaty will be held from 29 January to 8 February 2017. 2,000 athletes from 55 countries are expected to compete in the 2017 Winter Universiade. Competitions will be held in 8 sport venues. There are 12 disciplines: biathlon, alpine skiing, curling, speed skating, Nordic combined, cross-country, ski jumping, snowboard, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey and short-track.
3,000 volunteers will be involved during the 28th Winter Universiade, both from abroad and from domestic regions of the country. Approximately 30,000 tourists and guests are expected to visit Almaty during the period of these Winter Games. An estimated number of TV viewers is 1 billion and the Games will be aired in 80 countries.
