PORTO – Yesterday, 19 July, the 7th edition of the World University Floorball Championship opened. The opening ceremony took place at the historical center hosting 16 teams from 10 countries providing them a cultural afternoon.

The President of Federação Académica Porto, Daniel Freitas, reminded all athletes and officials to “not only have a great championship but also a great time, where having fun, meeting other people and seizing life and sport may be engraved on your memories for life.”

To close the speech, Daniel Freitas left a special message to all the players: “enjoy the games, follow the rules and experience this championship with fair-play, inside and outside the field: if you do so, one will win the gold but all of you will leave Portugal remaining truly winners.” FISU Vice-President Marian Dymalski highlighted the work of FADU, “the most active national federation in Europe.”

The President of FADU, Daniel Monteiro, addressed a few words to the participants wishing that the championship organization “can be truly remarkable for each and every one” and highlighting that Floorball “is a new sport in Portugal and this is an important moment for its growth.”

In the Opening Ceremony, Guilhermina Rego, representing Porto the City Hall, and Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo, rector of University of Porto, declared officially opened the 7th World University Floorball Championship.
