LAUSANNE – The 3rd edition of the 3×3 Basketball FISU League Final is set for 14-17 September 2017 in the capital city of university 3×3, Xiamen (China) and will again host the top two teams per gender from each FISU continental federation qualifying tournament (QT). This will be the third year running that the Chinese Sea Garden city will receive 32 men’s and 32 women’s team representing universities from all around the world – and this editions promises to be the best to date.
The 2016 edition crowned the men’s team from McGill University (Canada) and the women’s Lithuanian Sport University (Lithuania) as champions. These teams followed on from the 2015 winners Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada) and Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (China) in men’s and women’s categories respectfully.
A total of six qualifying tournaments are scheduled leading up to the final in Xiamen:
- AUSF: 3rd Asian University 3×3 Basketball Championship, 16-18 April, Cyberjaya (Malaysia);
- EUSA: EUC 2017 Basketball 3×3, 25-28 July, Split (Croatia);
- FASU: 2nd Afro-Varsity 3×3 Challenge, 14-15 April, Nairobi (Kenya);
- FISU America: 1st Pan American University League FISU America 2017, 6-11 June, Buenos Aires (Argentina);
- FISU Oceania: 2017 3×3 Basketball Nationals, 2-3 August, Gold Coast (Australia) and UTSNZ National Tertiary 3×3 Basketball Championships, 9 April, Christchurch (New Zealand).
All these events are being supported by FISU official supplier MOLTEN which has provided all six organising committees with official and personalised 3×3 Basketball competition balls, the Molten Libertria 3×3.
