LODZ – On 19 June Lodz University of Technology (LUT) welcomed the FISU inspection visit team to assess preparations for not one, but two World University Championships to be held in Lodz in 2018.

 

The inspection started with Floorball. The FISU Floorball Technical Delegate Taneli Tilikainen and FISU WUC Department representative Julien Carrel met with OC Chairman and LUT Rector professor Slawomir Wiak, LUT Vice-Rector professor Witold Pawlowski and OC Vice- Chairmen Przemyslaw Jagielski, Joanna Domiza and Patrycja Cyniak. Proposed accommodation and competition venues, including the LUT’s new sport centre due to open in October 2017, were presented for approval in regards of the Floorball technical requirements.

 

On 21 June, the second visit started with the arrival of the FISU Cheerleading Technical Delegate Karl Olson who, in a meeting with Przemyslaw Jagielski and OC Member Malgorzata Wronska, advised on the technical requirements and challenges of hosting the first edition of the FISU WUC Cheerleading to be held in October 2018.

 

The visit was concluded with a general meeting between the inspection team and OC members, where topics such as promotion, communication, invitations, funding, accommodation, logistics, catering, etc. were discussed.

 

OC Vice- Chairman Przemyslaw Jagielski was very satisfied with the four- days visit: “We are very grateful for all the insightful comments and advice we received from the inspection team, especially the Cheerleading Technical Delegate since it is a new sport on the FISU WUC sports programme. We are very excited to host two Championships in Lodz in 2018 and the OC is working very hard to ensure that both events will be memorable to athletes as well as spectators.”
