LAUSANNE — The pools were in and the teams have been selected for the 2018 FISU World University Rugby Sevens Championship that will take place in Swakopmund, Namibia from 12-14 July.
The team draw results for the men
The 12-strong men’s tournament saw the home nation Namibia be paired with Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Colombia. The current FISU ranking leaders France, who were bronze medallists in 2016, will face Argentina, Uganda and Zambia. Group C sees 2016 World University Champions Australia play seven’s powerhouse South Africa, China and Botswana.
In the women’s draw, the home team will have a tough challenge overcome 2016 silver medallists Canada and Australia, with newcomers India looking to take their first steps in the sport. Group B sees 2016 World University Champions France take on the challenges of Brazil, Belgium and South Africa.
