The countdown has begun… Two weeks to go now, before the start of the 2020 FISU eSports Challenge Football! Registrations for this FIFA 20 competition – the first international e-sports for university students – is open until 30 June.
The inaugural e-series kicks off with 32-participant tournaments for men and women university students playing the FIFA 20 game on the PlayStation 4 platform. The challenge gets underway with group stage matches from 6-8 July. The final eight elimination matches run from 9-13 July. The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals on successive days, with the men’s and women’s champions crowned on 16 July.
To participate, the applicant must be a currently enrolled university student or should have graduated within the last year. Those interested in participation should contact their National University Sports Federation (NUSF).
Each national association can register only one player per gender. Once registration ends on 30 June, FISU will make the final selection of participants, based on the Technical Regulation of the eSports Challenge. By regulation, the European University Sports Association (EUSA) can register a maximum of 8 players, FISU America can field 5 players, the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) has maximum 8 players allowed, Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) has 7 spots and FISU Oceania, 2 players.
