European University Sports Association (EUSA) is seeing great interest for the upcoming edition of the European Universities Games Debrecen-Miskolc 2024, to be held between 12-24 of July in the two great Hungarian cities of cities of Debrecen and Miskolc. This will be the biggest university sport event organised in the country since the FISU Summer Universiade in 1965.

The 2024 edition of the Games will be held under the slogan “More than Games” and is expected to welcome a great number of athletes from across Europe’s leading universities. They will represent their respective universities by competing in 17 different sports and will take part in a wide range of educational and social activities. The sports on the programme are 3×3 basketball, badminton, basketball, beach handball, beach volleyball, chess, football, futsal, handball, judo, karate, kickboxing, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, and water polo. Para table tennis is also on the programme for student athletes with disabilities.

Registration is now open, and applications can be submitted by national university sport bodies in Europe, under the umbrella of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) – the license-holder of the European Universities Games. The priority registration deadline is 1 February 2024, with the possibility of prolonged registration to 1 March 2024, in case of open spots for the designated sports.

The vision behind the European Universities Games 2024 is being built by two universities and two cities coming together, with the EUG 2024 organising committee working tirelessly to make this the most memorable European Universities Games to date. With state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant atmosphere, Debrecen and Miskolc are ready to welcome athletes, coaches, and spectators from all over Europe. The Games will not only be a celebration of sports, but also a chance for cultural exchange and the building of lasting connections between universities.

Volunteers also play a very important role in the realisation of this event. They can gain valuable professional experience in organising sports events and becoming future leaders in the sports community, while exploring their passion for sport.

International ongoing promotion is targeting European university sports bodies, universities, and student athletes, while local activities raise awareness of the event, strengthen partnerships, and recruit volunteers and taskforce.
