Secretary General Eric Saintrond visited two universities in Morocco to discuss FISU’s Healthy Campus Programme as well as other future collaborations.
On his return from a short visit to Morocco, Secretary General Eric Saintrond confirmed that the next FISU Executive Committee Meeting will take place in Rabat on 26-27 September 2024. But of course, the organisation of that meeting was not the sole purpose of his visit. The main reason for his trip was to meet ONOUSC (Office National des Œuvres Universitaires, Sociales et Culturelles) Director, Samir Fatajou.
The ONOUSC, based in the city of Rabat, functions as a central administration for 23 universities set in several different cities all over the Kingdom of Morocco. The sporting activities are organised by the « Fédération Royale Marocaine du Sport Universitaire (FRMSU) », whose President is the Minister of Higher Education, Abdellatif Miraoui and whose Delegate Chairman is ONOUSC Director, Samir Fatajou. This means that both entities are very closely linked.
The ONOUSC carries out several very important missions in the country, such as the creation and development of all the student accommodation and catering facilities, the development and extension of health coverage for all students, the distribution of student grants, the promotion of university sports on a national level, developing cultural activities in universities, carrying out surveys related to students’ living conditions and the development of different activities to reinforce and complete the training of students provided in university establishments.
Samir Fatajou and Eric Saintrond visited two universities together. First the Université Internationale de Rabat and then the Université de Kenitra Ibn Tofail, who both showcase excellent facilities. Of course, this was the perfect occasion to discuss FISU’s Healthy Campus Programme and to strengthen the links between FISU and the Moroccan University Sports world.
Discussions which will no doubt be carried on next September in Rabat.
