With about one month to go until the Torino 2025 FISU World Conference, the global university sports community is preparing for an event that promises to inspire, innovate, and unite. At the heart of this edition is the dynamic theme “SPRINT Generation: SPort, Risk, INnovation, and Technology.”
The FISU World Conference will take place on 14 January 2025, providing an engaging intellectual kick-off to the . This event invites participants to stimulate their minds before diving into the excitement of the competitions.
All sessions of the Torino 2025 FISU World Conference will take place on 14 January (from 9.30) at the Centro Congressi Lingotto, Torino (Italy). Here is the programme of this really exciting day.
Keynote lectures – from 10.00
SPORT Yannis Pitsiladis (Hong Kong Baptist University) – “Wearable and telemedicine innovations for Olympic events and elite sport in the age of big data and AI.”
RISK Daniel Svensson (Malmö University) – “Risks and potentials of sport in relation to sustainable development.”
INNOVATION Anna Bjerkefors (Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences) – “The Swedish Parasport Academy: a synergy project on physical activity, sports, research and education for people with impairment.”
TECHNOLOGY Maria Caboni (University of Bologna) – “Good fats, bad fats, just fats. Challenges and innovation related to the production of food for sport.”
Roundtable on sports medicine – from 14.30
Exercise and sports are vital for enhancing quality of life, but with the rising levels of participation and increased training intensity, the risk of injuries has grown significantly. Addressing this challenge, a roundtable discussion with 10 experts at the Torino 2025 FISU World Conference will discuss the latest insights and strategies for preventing and managing injuries in winter sports as well as new rehabilitation methods.

The four organising universities will each supervise one topic of the Conference:
- “Game Changers: Innovation in Sports” supervised by Politecnico Torino (POLITO)
- “Brain and exercise” supervised by University of Torino (UNITO)
- “University, Sport, Health, Environment. How to live in an interconnected and sustainable way?” supervised by University of Eastern Piedmont (UPO)
- “Food, consumption and perception” supervised by University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG)
SPRINT Generation Challenge
As part of the FISU World Conference, a new exciting challenge for both Italian and international students has been developed. Participants in teams were invited to showcase their creativity and knowledge by designing posters on various mind disciplines such as sustainability, democracy, and food.
The best proposals will be selected for an exclusive presentation on 15 January 2025 at Cavallerizza Reale in Torino, Italy. Finalists will have the opportunity to present their work live on stage in front of a jury, making this a unique platform to highlight their talents.
