The University of Sydney was the last to qualify for in the Dalian 2025 FISU University World Cup Football, securing their ticket on 7 December.

The road to Dalian is now a direct one for 10 teams, all winners of their respective continental qualifying tournaments. The last ones to secure their ticket came from Asia and Oceania.

2025 will not only be the year of the FISU World University Games, it will also mark the first time the FISU University World Cup football is organised in Dalian. After the last two editions being hosted by Jingang (2019 and 2023), this exciting event is moving to another Chinese city: Dalian.

As 2024 is about to end, we now know the names of all 10 continental qualifying tournament winners. Last but not least, the University of Sydney (AUS/women) and the University of Auckland (NZL/men) now complete the list of universities who have qualified for the Dalian 2025 FISU University World Cup Football, which will take place from 17-28 September 2025.

So we know the two Oceanian representatives, let’s take a look back on what happened on the other continents.

Asia

The second AUSF Football Cup took place in Yanbian (CHN) from 17-24 September. 12 teams from 8 countries participated, with the following final rankings:

Women’s podium

  1. Shanghai University of Sport (CHN)
  2. College of Asian Scholars (THA)
  3. Beijing Normal University (CHN)

Men’s podium

  1. Kyungil University (KOR)
  2. Thammasat University (THA)
  3. Beihang University (CHN)

Africa

Ghana’s University of Developmental Studies (UDS) men’s team and Nigeria’s Lagos State University (LASU) women’s team both won their tickets to China at the end of a thrilling football tournament during the 11th edition of the Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games in Nigeria in September.

Europe

The European teams won their qualification in Hungary, during the organised in the two cities of Debrecen and Miskolc in the heat of July.

Men’s podium

  1. State University of Trade Economics (UKR)

America

The qualifying tournament for FISU America took place in Punta del Este, Uruguay from 23 May until 2 June. 6 countries from the American continent took part, with a total of more than 270 student-athletes from Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile and Uruguay.

The team selection is now in process and teams participating in the Dalian 2025 FISU University World Cup Football in September will be announced by February 2025.
