The World University Games left an enduring legacy in Torino through the FISU Healthy Campus Programme, marked by two events that underscore the commitment to fostering health, sustainability, and inclusivity within universities worldwide.
On 15 January, celebrating Healthy Campus Certifications at the excellent facilities of Aula Magna Cavallerizza Reale, in a significant ceremony hosted by the University of Torino, the Healthy Campus Certificates were awarded to the University of Torino (UNITO) and the Polytechnic University of Torino (POLITO). These two institutions were recognised for their exemplary efforts in advancing the values of the FISU Healthy Campus Programme.
The event brought together esteemed leaders from the worlds of academia and university sports, including: Rector of the Polytechnic University of Torino, Stefano Paolo Corgnati; Andrea Silvestri, General Director of the University of Torino; Riccardo D’Elicio, President of CUS Torino and Leonz Eder, President of FISU.
Two certifications
Eder highlighted the growth and impact of the programme. “It is an absolute pleasure to stand here at one of the seven pilot universities of the FISU Healthy Campus Programme. Since its launch in 2020, it has grown remarkably, with 171 registered universities across 44 countries and 81 certified. Today’s ceremony exemplifies the legacy of the World University Games, as we celebrate two outstanding institutions committed to creating thriving campus environments.”
The University of Torino received the Platinum Label Certification, the program’s highest recognition, for integrating FISU Healthy Campus principles into its strategic plan. Meanwhile, POLITO achieved certification in record time, demonstrating remarkable dedication and potential for further success.
Riccardo D’Elicio, President of CUS Torino, emphasised the regional impact telling that “from the moment I learned about this programme, my mission was to involve the University and Polytechnic of Torino in FISU’s initiatives to engage more young people in both recreational and competitive sports.”
Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding
