Koreans dominate the Medal Podium at the 10th WUC Archery
The 10th edition of the World University Archery Championship in Legnica, Poland finished with the Korean archers dominating the medal podium.
The traditionally strong archers of Korea climbed the highest podium four times, i.e. in Recurve Women Team, Recurve Mixed Team, Compound Men Team and Compound Mixed Team. Besides those four gold medals in the team competitions, Shin Jeonghwa won the silver and Jeon Hunyoung the bronze in the Recurve Women, Kim Jonhgho, also took silver in the Compound Men.
The Koreans were followed in the medal tally by Mexico with 2 gold, 3 silver & 1 bronze. To complete the top five of the gold medal ranking, Chinese Taipei won 2 gold and 1 silver; Italy one gold, one silver and two bronze and Ukraine one gold. Ranking by the total number of medals, we have Korea and Mexico still on spots one and two, followed by Italy, Chinese Taipei and the USA, who got two bronze.
Gold in Recurve Men and Women went to Louis Alvarez (MEX) and Tan Ya-Ting (TPE). Gold in Compound Men and Women went to Vladyslav Bolshakov (UKR) and Katia D’Agostino (ITA).
The 10th World University Archery Championship has gathered the biggest number of student-archers in the history of this competition. 206 students-athletes competed in Legnica.
The 11th edition will take place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2016.
