Netball, a very popular sport in the Commonwealth countries, was added to the World University Championships sports programme in 2011 with its inaugural championship in 2012 in Capetown, South Africa.

History of Netball in FISU

The first World University Netball Championship was attributed in May 2011 to the University Sports Federation of South Africa and the city of Cape Town (RSA). Since the inaugural editions, two more WUCs were held.
