This is a sport that combines the technical aspects of sailing with the athleticism of surfing. Six FISU World University Championships Windsurfing have been held, between 1988 and 1998. The inaugural was held in Palermo, Italy on the Bay of Sferracavallo with 13 nations taking part in competition.
